Short-Term Effects (Within Weeks) may include improvements in symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, fatigue, and sleep disturbances. Within a few months you may begin to feel relief from symptoms such as vaginal dryness, reduced libido, cognitive issues, and changes in skin texture.

The full benefits of BHRT may take several months to years to manifest fully, particularly for symptoms related to bone health, cardiovascular health, muscle mass maintenance, and overall well-being. It’s essential to give the body time to adjust to hormone replacement therapy and for hormone levels to stabilize.

What To Expect

01. Consultation

We begin by collecting in-depth blood work to get a clear picture of your overall health and hormone levels. This is so we can identify causes of your symptoms and see if you qualify for certain treatments such as Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy.

Common signs of hormone deficiency:

  • Weak bones
  • Mood swings
  • Heavy or painful periods
  • Low libido
  • Insomnia & poor quality sleep
  • Unexplained weight gain
  • Skin problems
  • Fertility problems
  • Headaches
  • Vaginal dryness

02. Preparation

Since hormone levels tend to vary and are generally highest in the morning, blood testing should be done before 10:00 a.m., and requires 12 hours of fasting. Once we have received your lab results, one of our medical professionals will go over your levels to evaluate whether your levels are needing adjusting or not. We take a serious approach to screening and prevention to help you maintain optimal health and well-being. We always offer our clients personalized testing with detailed explanations for your results, to help you better understand your personal patterns, and assist your health accordingly.

03. Procedure

Once preparations are complete, you begin the BHRT procedure according to the treatment plan devised during the consultation. Depending on your specific needs and preferences, you may administer bioidentical hormones in various forms. This could involve applying topical creams or gels to the skin, taking oral capsules or troches, or undergoing pellet implantation. The hormones are typically administered in cycles or according to a prescribed schedule to maintain consistent hormone levels and optimize therapeutic effectiveness. We closely monitor your progress and may adjust dosages or formulations as necessary to achieve optimal results.

04. After-care

Following the initiation of BHRT, you receive ongoing support and guidance for after-care. This includes monitoring your symptoms and overall well-being to assess your response to treatment. Your provider schedules follow-up appointments to evaluate your progress, review any changes or concerns, and make adjustments to your treatment plan as needed. Additionally, you receive recommendations for maintaining hormone balance and general health through lifestyle modifications, dietary adjustments, and other supportive measures.

Benefits of BHRT

BHRT stands for Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. It is a prescribed treatment to help bring hormone levels back to healthy levels which can improve and alleviate the symptoms of menopause. BHRT is a medically supervised program, that is approved by Health Canada, which will be prescribed by our Medical Team to those who qualify.

With BHRT, the side effects are significantly reduced than with HRT, because you are using hormones that are exactly like the ones produced in your own body.

Since everyone is so different, the time it takes for the BHRT to take effect will vary. In addition to this, some health concerns may take longer to resolve than others. Some patients may see improvement in some of their symptoms sooner and some later. It is likely that most will start to see some changes around three weeks after beginning the treatment. However, in some patients it may take longer, and can take up to three months before seeing a difference in health.

There is a possibility that Hormone Replacement Therapy can be covered by your insurance. Although it very much depends on your specific insurance plan.

Check with your provider to see if you are covered!

After the decision is made whether BHRT may be a good option for you, we will then provide you with a blood requisition form. You can take this form to your nearest blood lab, where they will do the proper testing, followed by them faxing over your results for our Medical Team to evaluate.

If your results come to us showing that your levels are irregular, that is when we will have further discussion as to your BHRT Plan. Either way, once your results are in and have been reviewed, we will schedule you in for a virtual appointment to go over your lab results, and treatment recommendations.

Your original intake blood test covers most of your body’s systems and hormones, checking for levels, function and warning signs.

While we only treat hormone issues at Active Energy we will make you aware of any issues or red flags we believe you should have investigated by your PCP ( primary care physician. )

While it is safe to stop using Hormone Replacement Therapy, it is important you consult you doctor before stopping your prescribed doses, since they will help you approach the best method to do so.
