Laser Hair Removal works by targeting the melanin or pigment in the hair follicles. The melanin absorbs the light, which destroys the follicle, and halts future hair growth. Because hair grows in cycles, only the hair in the current cycle of growth will be destroyed. Hence, 4-8 treatments are needed, in order to target and destroy all your hair follicles during all the different cycles of growth. Treatments occur every 4-6 weeks in order to capture the hairs during the active growth phase.

30-60 minutes
A mild sunburn-like sensation is expected. This usually lasts 2-24 hours but can persist up to 72 hours.
It usually takes multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart to achieve optimal results. Laser hair removal can significantly reduce hair growth in the treated area, and many people experience long-lasting or permanent hair reduction after completing a series of sessions. However, maintenance sessions may be needed periodically to maintain results.
During the initial consultation, we will discuss your hair removal goals, medical history, skin type, and any medications you’re currently taking. The technician will assess your skin and hair type to determine the most suitable laser treatment for you. They’ll also explain the procedure, including what to expect during and after treatment, potential risks and side effects, and the number of sessions required for optimal results. Active Energy has the very latest and best IPL technology with the industry’s ONLY available melanin reader which allows us to safely treat all skin types!
PLEASE AVOID:
Please read all Post Care & After Care provided from Active Energy Laser & Med Spa at the time of your booking. This will help ensure you get the best treatment results.
During the laser hair removal procedure, you’ll be provided with protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the laser light. The technician will adjust the laser settings based on your skin and hair type and apply a cooling gel to the treatment area to help protect the skin and enhance comfort. Using a handheld laser device, the technician will deliver pulses of laser energy to the targeted hair follicles. The laser energy is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles, damaging them and inhibiting future hair growth. Depending on the size of the treatment area, the procedure may take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour to complete.
After laser hair removal, expect a mild sunburn-like sensation lasting 2-24 hours, occasionally up to 72 hours. Mild swelling and redness may occur but typically resolve in 2-3 days. Apply cooling to the treated area for 10-15 minutes every hour for the next 4 hours, if needed. Over-the-counter anti-inflammatory or analgesic medication can help reduce discomfort; follow dosage instructions.
Until redness subsides, please AVOID:
You may bathe or shower as usual; treated areas may feel mildly sunburned. Do not pick or pull at darkened lesions to prevent scarring, they will slough off naturally. Hair growth or stubble may persist for 7-30 days post-treatment, as treated hairs are expelled. Follow-up treatments every 4-6 weeks are typically recommended, with most clients requiring 4-8 sessions for optimal results.

SHR (Super Hair Removal):
Technology: Delivers low-fluence, high-repetition rate laser energy, allowing for a gradual heating process that damages hair follicles without harming surrounding skin.
Method: Uses an “in-motion” technique, where the practitioner glides the laser applicator over the skin, ensuring even coverage and reducing burn risk.
Benefits: Virtually painless, safe for all skin types, including tanned skin, and provides permanent hair reduction.
HR (Hair Removal):
Technology: Utilizes a single pulse, high-fluence approach to deliver heat energy selectively to the hair follicle.
Method: The energy absorbed by the melanin in the hair causes heat injury to the hair, preventing its further growth.
Cooling: Simultaneously, intense contact cooling is applied to the epidermis to prevent superficial heat injury and improve patient comfort.

The laser was first used in medicine in 1961, nearly 50 years ago! Laser hair removal began about 15 years ago, but has advanced significantly in the past 8 – 10 years.
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light and is not a laser. While IPLs can be effective for some cosmetic procedures, our experience supports the more powerful, yet safer use of the laser for hair removal.
People have compared it to a rubber band snapping against the skin. Compared to waxing the treatment has very little discomfort. Everyone’s pain tolerance is different. If you do find it uncomfortable, we can prescribe a numbing cream for the skin.
Laser hair removal is a lunch time procedure. There is no recovery time. Patients can return to work or play immediately. These lasers do not remove skin, so the risks are very low. As with any procedure, we have an informed consent that explains all the possible risks.
Yes. Every Ideal Image center has two distinct lasers: one for lighter skin, and one for darker skin. No matter how dark the skin, our laser is considered the gold standard for treating unwanted hair on darker skin types. Its longer wavelength safely bypasses the skin and targets the melanin in the hair shaft, destroying the unwanted hair follicle. You will love your results!
